Information we handle

• Account details supplied through our authentication provider, such as your name, email address and profile image.
• Saved places, travel preferences and draft plans stored in your browser or account where that feature is enabled.
• Approximate location only when you give browser permission, used to suggest country, currency, weather or a departure point.
• Basic affiliate-link interaction data, such as partner, placement and time, used to understand which tools are useful.
• Countries you recently opened, stored only in your browser, so the homepage can suggest experiences and trips for them.
• Technical request information required for security, reliability and abuse prevention.

Travel comparison searches

Flight, stay and transport searches open on our partners' websites (Aviasales, Booking.com and Trip.com). We pass the route, dates and traveller count you choose, plus a partner tracking reference so the partner can attribute the referral. We record only the partner, placement and time of the click; no search history or identifier cookie is stored by North Compass for these searches.

Public pages also load a Travelpayouts script that verifies our website and attributes partner links. It can read the page it runs on and is governed by Travelpayouts' privacy policy. It is not loaded on account or administration pages.

Partners and external bookings

Weather, maps, articles, places, tours, authentication and travel comparisons may be supplied by named third parties. When you follow a partner link or complete a booking, that provider's privacy policy applies. North Compass does not receive or store your card details for third-party travel bookings.

Shared trips

When you share a trip from the planner, we store a read-only copy of the itinerary: the trip name, dates, number of travellers and the plan for each day. Booking references, hotel and transport details, notes, your budget and your home airport are never included. Anyone with the link can view the copy, and shared trips are hidden from search engines. If you are signed in, you can stop sharing from your account at any time and the link stops working.

Newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address, where you signed up and when, so we can send you travel ideas. We only email you about North Compass travel content, and every email includes a link to unsubscribe. You can also ask us to remove your address at any time through the contact page. We never sell your address.

Printed album orders

When you order a printed album, we store your delivery name, address, email, the approved album files and the order amount so we can fulfil the order and help with any problem. Your album files and delivery address are shared with our print partner Prodigi to print and ship the album. Payment is handled by Stripe on its own secure checkout page; Stripe processes your card details under its privacy policy and North Compass never sees or stores your card number. We keep order records for as long as needed for fulfilment, support, and tax and accounting obligations.

Choices and control

You can deny location access, remove saved browser data and sign out at any time. You can also ask about access, correction or deletion through the contact page. Some operational records may need to be retained for security or legal reasons.

Security and changes

Secrets are kept server-side and reasonable safeguards are used, but no online service can promise absolute security. We will update this page when data practices materially change.
